Dong Zhuo sets fire to Luoyang, and the Eastern United Army encounters the Western Xia Army at Hulao Pass. Guan Yu and Zhang Fei assist their elder brother in fighting against Lü Bu, and Liu Bei finally becomes famous in a battle. Lü Bu secretly conspires with the remnants of the army to assassinate Dong Zhuo. The remnants encounter the army of Yuan Shao on their way to Chang'an and are saved by Liu, Guan, and Zhang. Liu Bei mistakenly identifies the fire at Liao Yuan as his son, Zhang Fei. Inside Chang'an, the remnants and Lü Bu join forces to fight against the Western Xia generals led by Li Ru. Both sides fight intelligence and courage, and in the end, Li Ru and Dong Zhuo die together.
